New Mexico Legislature is Wasting Time in 60 Day Session by Not Advancing Health Licensure Compacts out of Committee

03.07.2025

New Mexico’s Legislature nearing the end of 60-day session has failed to advance a single health licensure compact bill out committee while the Land of Enchantment struggles to retain health care professionals.

SANTA FE, NM – SourceNM reported on March 5, 2025, of the New Mexico Legislature not passing a single health licensure compact bill out of committee.  Americans for Autism Advocacy issues the following comment:

“The New Mexico Legislature has ended up being largely unproductive during the 60-day session scheduled to end on March 22, 2025. The fact that not one single health licensure compact bill advanced out of House and Senate committees is unacceptable. House Speaker Javier Martinez and Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales have prioritized special interests over improving access to mental health care for neurodivergent New Mexicans.  Both Speaker Martinez and Lt. Governor Morales need to explain to New Mexicans why doing nothing to improve health care access will change the current situation.  New Mexico deserves better and Americans for Autism Advocacy will hold the New Mexico Legislature accountable for their lack of action in the 30 day and special sessions.”
